Global supermajor BP Plc's exclusivity with Reliance Industries Ltd has ended but the energy giant will continue to pursue oil and gas as well as mobility ventures in India with the Mukesh Ambani firm owing to an unwritten strategic partnership, BP's outgoing India head Sashi Mukundan said. BP in 2011 spent $7.2 billion to acquire 30 per cent interest in 23 oil and gas blocks of Reliance. Eastern offshore KG-D6 block was the cornerstone of the deal that also provided for a 10-year exclusivity period which meant that BP would take up energy projects or investments in India only in partnership with Reliance.

Why Mehul Choksi is not returning anytime soon

Why Mehul Choksi is not returning anytime soon

Rediff.com24 Jun 2021

It was perhaps over-enthusiasm that prompted the Indian investigative agencies to take a private jet to Dominica to bring back fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi. Predictably, the eight-member team had to return empty-handed after almost a week-long wait. The agencies were banking too much on the "state-less" status of Mr Choksi, as Antigua, which had given him citizenship in 2017, wasn't willing to take him back. Thus, the calculation was that Mr Choksi would be whisked away from the Dominican courtroom to the waiting plane. The reason for the optimism was also because Antigua is friendly territory for India.

Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn has cautioned his social media fans after a close run-in with a deadly snake in South Africa's Kruger National Park. Travelling by car with a friend in the National Park, located 400km north-east of Johannesburg, Steyn pulled over to help what he thought was an injured brown house snake. But the 32-year-old got more than he bargained for when he discovered it was in fact a deadly Black Mamba snake he was dealing with. Steyn posted a video of the encounter on Instagram and urged his followers to avoid getting in a similar situation to the one he found himself in. "So this poor guy was hit by a car, we stopped to move him out the road thinking it was a brown house snake," Steyn wrote on his Instragram account.
